As a professional rebuilder, I desire to restore things to the original state as closely as possible. In some cases, this can be economically impractical, usually because certain materials and parts are no longer available. Such is the case with the Coinola valve units. Presently, the compressed fiber top valve washer is not available. This washer also has a brass grommet threaded into it. Over the years the fiber washer shrinks around the grommet causing it to warp to the point it can no longer be reused.
I have designed the replacement blocks for washers that are readily available which are glued in the same manner as the Simplex. The pouches are Zypher skin or Tan pouch (which ever is preferred) and should give longer service than the original rubber cloth. Blocks will be either milled from Cherry or Hard Rock Maple, and all interior surfaces are sealed with amber shellac.
If you have a complete original stack and the blocks are no longer repairable the metal
fastening plate
which is sandwiched between the valve and pouch board can be extracted and recycled
The listed prices include the installation of this part. If an original set of these
fasteners can be provided, a deduction of $200.00 for the 60 note set and $250.00
for a 80 note set will be given.

These units are all complete and ready to install with some minor adjustments. As there are subtle differences in the various pianos and models made over the years, it is recommended that you use the full scale template Print the template out then glue it to a piece of poster board and fit it in the piano. Though this is the standard stack design there are slight differences between models and years of manufacture which may require alterations in the lifters, positions of the nipples or the main trunk section. Because of the new brass elbows, which are not as compact as the originals, I have had to make the trunk section 3/16" deeper.
